END OF 2001-02 SEASON REPORT (By Colin Robinson)

HEWORTH `A' team achieved their sixth league and cup double in eight years when they beat Fulford `A' 4-0 in the York Conservative Clubs' Kutters and Shannons Team Snooker final at Acomb club. Heworth captain Clive Whyte beat Wayne Pulleston 67-13, Richie Burdett defeated Colin Neal 66-17, Jason Milner beat Richard Stroughair 69-29 and Steve Burdett came from 27-13 behind to beat Simon England 58-36. The presentations were made by competition sponsor Roy Walker, of Kutters and Shannons.

League champions Heworth `A' were presented with the Carlsberg-Tetley Snooker League trophy by David Ragan of the sponsors, who also presented the Faber Shield billiards trophy to Acomb and the dedicated player award to Eric Darley, of Bootham. Bootham captain Ian Robinson received the John Smith's `B' Team Cup from Lee Walsh of John Smith's brewery.

Bernard Willey, president of Bootham club, presented the Willsden Steel Cup to joint players of the year Jason Milner and Clive Whyte, both of Heworth club. They each won 13 out of 14 games. Runner-up awards were presented to Richie Burdett (Heworth) and Ken Taylor (Bootham), who each won 11 games.

Stewart MacLain, president of Acomb club, presented the Pulleyn's Playmates' Slater Cup Snooker Pairs League trophy to Bootham captain Don Nixon. John Sykes presented the North Wolds Printers' Cup to Clive Whyte for the highest snooker break of the season (58) and the runner-up prize to Neil Wood, for his 52 break.

Sponsor Paul Myers presented the Cameo Engraving billiards player of the year trophy to Ian Gillies (Acomb), who won ten of his 13 games. Myers also presented Ken Taylor (Bootham) with the Cameo Engraving billiards highest break trophy for his 69 break.
