THE FABER SHIELD
The Faber Shield is the committee which runs the York Conservative
Club Snooker and Billiards Leagues. It consists of a representative from each
participating club, the Secretary (D. Carlton) and Chairman (Colin Robinson).
The Faber Shield currently run the following competitions:
A league consisting of 8 teams, two from each club. Teams
consist of seven players and a point is awarded for each frame won. Prizes are
given to the league winners and the highest placed B team.
A handicapped league consisting of 4 teams. Players play
to 150 points up. Teams consist of six players and one point is awarded per
game with one for the team aggregate scores.

Teams consist of 12 players and play 6 games of pairs snooker.
A point is awarded for each frame and one for the team aggregate score.
Individual knockout competition open to all league players.
Handicapped individual knockout competition open to all league
players.
A handicapped individual knockout competition open to all
league players. Players play to 165 points up.

Run by Bootham Conservative Club in memory of a previous
president, this is a knockout competition consisting of the winner of each club's
individual snooker champion.
A knockout competition consisting of the pairs winners from
each club's annual pairs competition.
This award made each year by the Faber Shield Chairman, Colin
Robinson to mark the contribution made by the selected player to the continued
success of our leagues.
